Google's New Dataceter and Algorithm Update
02/01/2006 - Google has announced that it is redefining and updating their server infrastructure as well as updating their ranking algorithm. All at the same time! This is very BIG news and it WILL have an affect on everyone's web site. But just what kind of affect remains to be seen.
The new data center and algorithm are live right now so click here to see how you're affected. Google is rolling this major update now and chances are that it will be completed by mid March. By Google striving to keep its organic search data fresh, with the best possible results is a good thing. But I have seen some things that are not 100% perfect in some of the searches that I have done.
My personal opinion is that this is the first of several major algorithm updates that Google will perform this year. It was just last November that Google had done a major update to its ranking algorithm. So for Google to do another major update so soon is a sign that they are serious about keeping the organic search results as relevant as possible.
